What is the UK Medicines Information Pharmacists' Group?

The Medicines Information (MI) service in the United Kingdom is provided on a national basis by specialist pharmacists, the majority of whom are based within hospital trusts located across the UK. Their work is supported by regional MI centres which provide additional resources and support to local centres. The principal pharmacists from the regional centres meet regularly within The UK Medicines Information Pharmacist's Group (UKMIPG).Through co-operation and shared activity, UKMIPG, for example, co-ordinates the production of shared national information products, formulates strategy, develops education materials and training programs. This structure provides a framework for a networked national service with a strong local component.
