The aim of the 'New Medicines on the Market' series is to provide timely appraisals of newly marketed medicines. Such reports are intended to assist health professionals involved in defining medicine selection policies e.g. members of medicine and therapeutics committees, primary care pharmaceutical advisers, and prescribers. Emphasis is placed upon a critical evaluation of supporting evidence and comparison (wherever possible) with other medicines available for the management of the same conditions. Summaries are authored by staff of regional medicines information centres throughout the UK, and are produced according to a standard protocol designed to ensure methodological quality and presentation consistency.
