Leicestershire Medicines Code

This is the third edition of the Leicestershire Health Authority Policy for the Ordering, Dispensing, Storage, Prescription and Administration of Medicines now called the Leicestershire Medicines Code. The Policy was produced as a result of the need to define precisely the roles and
responsibilities of all health care professionals involved and concerned in the ordering, storage, prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines. The Policy is applicable to all Leicestershire Health Authority premises and NHS Trusts within Leicestershire.

Approving new drugs at the Prescribing Advisory Group (PAG)

Decision-making checklist

The aim of this document is to standardise the decision-making process when the Prescribing Advisory Group (PAG) considers new drugs. The document has been designed as a checklist, which should be filled in as each drug is considered. This will firstly provide a standard written record of how decisions are made. Secondly, a checklist will focus the committee's thoughts at the end of a discussion on a new drug and ensure that no points are overlooked.
